LiverBetterLife Riverland Roadshow

LiverBetterLife Riverland Roadshow is a project to introduce new hepatitis C rapid testing technology to rural and regional communities, together with point of care referrals for treatment for those returning positive results. Lessons learnt from this project will inform future work to improve access to testing and treatment for rural and regional communities. There will be several information sessions for GPs in the week leading up to World Hepatitis Day, with a dinner on 28 July for GPs and pharmacists, to mark the Day. This will be followed by rapid testing for the community, at pharmacies in Loxton, Berri, Renmark and Barmera from 9 - 12 August.

As part of the awareness raising campaign, there will also be a lucky draw for the wider Riverland community. The winner will get a $500 voucher for a stay at Pike River Luxury Villas. The quiz is currently open, with the prize drawn on 15 August. More information on the Roadshow and lucky draw at liverbetterlife.org.au.

Hepatitis C Rapid Testing Video

Health, community and peer workers can now take quick and easy hepatitis C testing to the community. The new rapid tests are just a finger prick with a tiny droplet of blood processed in a portable machine that delivers accurate results in an hour. This rapid testing demonstration video was recorded by Hepatitis SA Hep C Peer Coordinator, Lisa Carter, as a training tool, as well as an information resource for people thinking of getting tested. The video can be viewed on Hepatitis SA's YouTube channel from 12 noon on 28 July. For more information call 1800 437 222.
